Ingredients:
- 1 puff pastry dough
- 1 pack of sheets for pie
- 1 puff pastry dough
- 1 pack of sheets for pie
- 1 a casserole with minced chicken / turkey
- 1 big zucchini or 2 little ones
- parsley
- 1 egg
- mineral water
- grated cheese / mozzarella
- sunflower oil
- a finely chopped white onion
- 3-4 cloves of garlic
- Leave the fluffy puff pastry to defrost completely (or prepare from scratch), then spread well with a rolling pin to fit in the pan. The dough should be moderately thin, not too thin to break, but not too thick either. Either put a baking paper in the tray, or grease the tray with butter, then put the dough in and be aware that you need an extra 2 cm ( about 1 inch) on each edge to form a crispy edge at the end.
- Preparations: the zucchini is washed, both of the heads are cut and and the whole thing is grated in small pieces (as small as possible). After everything is grated, squeeze well the excess of water and place in a deep bowl. Add the minced chicken / turkey over the composition and season with: paprika, salt, pepper, even chilli to taste. Add the crushed garlic cloves over the composition. Mix very well.
- To cook the mixture of the pie: Put the sunflower oil in a large pan, then put in the finely chopped onions and cook well. After the onion is cooked (it is semi-transparent) add the composition with meat and zucchini and cook well, stirring constantly and making sure the meat doesn't form clumps.
- When the meat is done, add it to the tray over the dough. Top with a layer of grated cheese / mozzarella.
- To close the pie, put 2-3 thin sheets of pie over the top. You can also use the same dough you used for the bottom, just spread even thinner, but it will still make the pie more thick and hard to eat.
- Separately in a small bowl, beat the egg with a little mineral water and finely chopped parsley. The egg wash is also lathered with a brush between the 2-3 layers of the thin pie sheets, so that they stick together. Cheese / mozzarella can also be placed between the sheets on top. The egg wash will be placed on top of the pie as well, and then the edges (the extra 2 cm/ 1 inch) will bend over the top of the pie and then lathered with some egg wash as well. Then as a last layer, sprinkle a little more mozzarella / grated cheese over the top, but make sure you only put that on the pie and not the edges as those will cook faster and burn your cheese.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius or 356 degrees Fahrenheit or until nicely browned (here it depends on the thickness of the pie). Generally when it is browned on top it is ready to serve!
Bon appetit !!!
