Makeup done by a professional: love or hate? *my first experience*

Storyyy time:

The conversation between me and one of my friends came around the subject of professional makeup artists and I realized I've never had my face done before. And since there are loads of training artists in the field, I figured, what can go so wrong if I trust one of them to do my makeup. It was free anyways and I was gaining "some experience". The day I choose couldn't be more uninspired because, I had a date to celebrate 1 year of relationship and also, I had history classes that were really important for my exams. I woke up early, went there 3 hours earlier just to make sure I get to my history classes and she specifically told me, she is going to finish the makeup in 1 to 2 hours. So she begins, does my face with foundation, concealer, powder, contour and blush, all that jazz and then she moves on to the eyes. For some reason, I did not know that each "session" of makeup they have it's a themed one. And the day I went, it was BRIDAL MAKEUP. Couldn't be more perfect right? Nothing went wrong until she needed to follow the instructions for the eyes and she had trouble with that. Trouble, like she wiped my eye makeup 10 times and she was trying really hard to follow along. Finally, after one hour spend on only one eye and the result wasn't even good, she moved on to the other eye and done that perfectly. After two and a half hours, she was done with both of the eyes. Mind you, I am not a makeup artist whatsoever but, I know a little bit about blending. Apparently she didn't. In the first picture, looks decent at least, but you can really see the masterpiece in the last picture. After I was done with everything, the makeup teacher comes around, she tells her that it's all fine with the eyes, but the face is to sheer. Now, at this point, three hours went by and I really had to go, but she needed to complete the look, so the teacher tells her "apply everything on top of this layer"..... what??? Yeah, and she does exactly that. On top of foundation, concealer, powder, contour and blush, she puts another layer of everything and as a cherry on the cake, she adds highlighter :) Omg, I don't have to tell you that after I was done, I looked like a clown and on top of that, I was late to my history classes. I was so embarrassed when I was walking around the city, because everyone was staring at me, like I came out of some sort of show. The pictures don't even tell the truth when you look at them, my mom actually thought I was pretty but I didn't feel like it.... But the date went well at least, because I got to smudge some of the makeup out. And by the way, that was the tee I wore on my date just to be in theme and all :)

That was my first experience of getting my makeup "professionally" done and I am really glad I didn't had to pay. I hope I made some of you laugh :))
More to come.
